Pesticide Site Restoration for a Cleaner Environment

Names of participants: Elena Culighin and Denis Parea
Country, City: Moldova, Molovata

There are two contaminated sites in Molovata village that have high levels of contamination with persistent organic pollutants. This project intended to suggest planting one of the sites with species that would extract the toxic pollutants and due to the metabolic processes within, transform them into non-toxic compounds. This would create a green zone close to agricultural areas, eliminate pollution sources and create prerequisites for the development of the rural tourism and leisure.
